Great, glad you are enjoying it so far! Yes, you can use commercial soy milk. Just try to get one with as few additives as possible. I haven’t tried it myself, but I think it gives pretty similar results.

If I want to improve the light fastness etc, could I pre mordant or post mordant with anything when using the soy binder?

Hi, yes, combining the soy milk binder with a metal mordant is great. I often just dip my leaves in iron mordant then put them on the fabric prepared with soy milk, but you can also mordant it before or after soaking it in the binder.
I know you talked about using dilute yogurt somewhere, but I can not seem to find it. I think one used uses a very dilute yogurt. Whole milk consistency? Thanks!

I found the info in the Iso Dye Group class. I will let it sit for 12 hours.
Oh good, I’m glad you found it. Diluted yogurt won’t be as strong a binder as soy milk, but if that is all you have, it does provide some protein.
