Hi Louise, I have followed all the procedures, but missed one vital step, and that was to wet the dry items prior to mordanting. I put the dry garments/ fabric straight into iron mordant. They were very well covered, but I am worried that the fabric might not be as porous having missed this step. Will I completely redo this again adding the now dry mordanted fabric back into clear water and re mordant?
Hi Marilyn, generally this will be fine. I sometimes skip this step myself! Most fabric will become fully saturated once submerged in the mordant. The presoak is just in case a particular piece of fabric isn’t as absorbent and needs a bit of help to get fully saturated.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. I will put into practice what I learnt within a few weeks, when the leaves have soaked enough.
Great. You can also try using leaves fresh or after soaking for just a few days, and see what happens!
